Dermal fillers restore a youthful fullness to the face, plump up lips, enhance shallow contours or soften facial creases and wrinkles. Dermal fillers are "liquid facelifts" because they offer many of the benefits of a surgical facelift without the surgery and associated risks or recovery. Although they do not help alleviate excess sagging skin, soft tissue fillers can add volume and provide immediate youthful results at a lower cost. However, these treatments are not permanent and require maintenance. Some dermal fillers work in conjunction with other skin rejuvenation treatments such as injections of botulinum toxin. A plastic surgeon assesses the needs of a patient and recommends one or a combination of treatments to achieve desired results.
