Surgical Cosmetic

Surgical Cosmetic techniques enhance the appearance through surgical and medical techniques. It is specifically concerned with maintaining normal appearance, restoring it, or enhancing it beyond the average level towards the aesthetic ideal. Cosmetic surgery reshapes normal structures of the body in order to improve the patient's appearance and self-esteem. Reconstructive surgery corrects abnormal structures of the body, caused by congenital defects, developmental abnormalities, trauma, infection, tumors or disease. It improves functions, but may also approximate a normal appearance. Minimally invasive cosmetic procedures are non-surgical treatments used to reduce the appearance of facial lines, remove unwanted hair, and even out skin pigmentation.

Fraxel treatment is a revolutionary laser treatment that helps remove years of aging and restores the appearance of a more youthful look. Fraxel treatment delivers remarkable results with fast recovery and treats sun damage, wrinkles or other signs of aging.

Fraxel treatments vary in aggressiveness, downtime and number of procedures needed. The most aggressive treatment yields dramatic improvement for patients with severely damaged skin. This is a single treatment procedure, but requires more downtime and after-treatment wound care. Less aggressive treatments can produce significant improvement in mild to moderately damaged skin over the course of three to six treatments.

When considering treatment options, patients and the physicians should discuss the trade-off between downtime and results in order to determine the best option for the skin condition and the lifestyle of the patient.

large volume breast augmentation

Patients who request disproportionately large breast size from breast implant surgery must consider that such a choice can place them at risk for a less than optimal long term outcome and the need for re-operation and additional expenses. The placement of excessively-sized breast implants exceeds the normal dimensions of the breast, produce irreversible tissue thinning, implant drop out, visible/palpable rippling, and implants that are too close together at the center of the chest (synmastia). Large volume primary augmentation or revision with larger sized implants (>350cc) may increase the risk of complications such as implant extrusion, hematoma, infection, palpable implant folds, and visible skin wrinkling requiring surgical intervention to correct these complications.

Ear Surgery

Many infants are born with larger than average ears. Their ears may lack some of the definition and folds that characterize a normal ear. As an infant grows, the ear abnormality becomes more noticeable. Though many plastic surgeons would like to correct ear deformities at a younger age, the ear has not developed sufficiently. If doctors intervene too soon, the abnormal ear will change too much after surgery, making results unpredictable. At six to seven years old, the ears achieve 80 percent of their growth. This is a special milestone for the children as they begin their education. Many people wait until adulthood to pursue surgical correction of their ears. The treatment is essentially the same regardless of the age of a patient. Based on the appearance of the abnormal ear, there are several treatment options available. Surgical procedures involve pinning back the ears with special sutures, sculpting the ear cartilage to give it the necessary detail and size or placing sutures within the cartilage to give it the grooves that characterize a normal ear. Doctors perform these procedures under light or full general anesthesia. Surgeons place a thin plastic drain inside the wound to collect any fluid oozing out. After surgery, doctors apply a special bandage the ear to maintain even pressure to minimizing the risk of additional oozing.

Private Pay Health

Private Pay is the basis upon which the healthcare financing system began. Patients paid physicians a fee-for-service. In its purest sense, the Private Pay model includes only the physician and patient in the exchange of compensation for medical care provided. Over the years as healthcare financing arrangements have changed, entities paying a fee-for-service includes all payers-public and private. Recently, the healthcare industry has referred to physician practices that do not accept health insurance as cash-only practices or Private Pay offices. Private Pay vastly reduces the traditional overhead expenses by not having to bill and abide by contractual requirements of third party payers. Further, collection rates may be higher with fewer bad debt expenses.
